Anonymous asked: I'm really sorry that I'm going to ask another question about Reconciliation, but I just have been so curious: If someone confessed that they aided another person in a grave sin (such as a boyfriend who took his girlfriend to get an abortion) would a priest still be allowed to give that other person communion (such as if the girlfriend was a member of the congregation and after getting the abortion, wanted to receive). Again, sorry for repetition! You're great!!! God bless :)

He’d have to keep giving her communion.  He cannot act on the knowledge gained during a confession.

Even if someone told the priest that the next person to enter the confessional was going to kill the priest, the priest would not be able to do anything to prevent it.

Anonymous asked: Have you ever tried mango pancakes? I assure you its better than bread and wine.

I’ll suggest it to the priest.  But see, Communion is an awesome moment where the personage of Christ is assumed by the Priest as he recreates the moments of the last supper and literally gives us the body and blood of Christ to eat.

I have a hard time seeing Jesus saying, “Take and eat, for these mango pancakes are my body.”  It just doesn’t seem as powerful.

Also, mango pancakes are expensive.  I’m not sure the Catholic Church could afford to replace the Eucharist with mango pancakes.

Anonymous asked: What happens if we receive communion in a state of mortal sin?

We commit a second moral sin called scandal.

P.S.  Thank you to Heartsonfire who pointed out that particular sin is actually called sacrilege.  Though in certain circumstances, elements of scandal may be present.

Anonymous asked: Hi, I am getting my child baptized in several weeks. The Godparents we would like to choose for our son are both Catholic and both homosexual (gay and lesbian). They are both active Catholics that regularly attend Mass. They have both received the sacraments of baptism, reconciliation and confirmation. They freely and daily express and share their love of God and that of the Catholic church. Is it a problem that they are homosexuals?

To be honest, I don’t know.

I checked on the Catholic forums which seems to be the only place where this issue has been discussed on the internet, and they were somewhat unhelpful.  They assumed that a homosexual would either not be practicing, or would be associated with ‘gay culture.’  From what I gathered, it seems to appear that if the Godparents you would like to choose are practicing Catholics, and they live a chaste life, and though they identify as homosexual, they choose not to be affiliated with the ‘gay culture,’ there would be no problem with them being God parents.  I do highly suggest discussing this with at least one priest, but probably more.

If anyone has some insights that I have failed to provide, please ‘reply’ to this post with them!

As far as I understand, if they commit to living a chaste life, are practicing Catholics, and don’t associate with ‘gay culture,’ then there is no problem if they are homosexuals.

God bless!

Anonymous asked: I have a question about Catholism, what is the point of confession? Why do I need to talk to a third party about my sins? Why can't I pray directly to God? It's not like I have a problem with sharing my sins, I just prefer to ask for forgiveness as I go, not save up a bunch of stuff for one time.

This PDF File is an awesome explanation of the sacrament of Confession.

But to answer your question about asking for forgiveness as you go and not saving it up, I totally agree.  I go to confession 2-3 times a week, basically, whenever I feel like I am in sin. I’ve found it has become an important part of my faith.
